NT Cardiac Privacy Policy
We recognise the importance of privacy, confidentiality protection for all our patients and those that visit our website and our practise. The purpose of this document is to outline the confidentiality and privacy obligations of NT Cardiac. The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 extended the operation of the Federal Privacy Act 1988 to include the private health sector throughout Australia on the 21st of December 2001.
While the legislation will serve to compliment our existing culture of integrity and confidentiality the outline below will ensure our patients are assured of their privacy any information collected at our practise, from our online portals and via the NTC website are privacy protected.
Our principal concern is and always will be the health of patients who visit our practice. To ensure our patients can feel confident with giving our practice information a high level of trust and confidentiality is maintained constantly.
Personal Information:
On behalf of our clinicians we may collect personal information including health information for the purpose of providing medical services and treatment to our patients. Patient information we collect may be provided directly by the patient to our practice or through our website, provided on patient’s behalf with their consent, health service providers or through referrals.
Personal information collected will generally include but is not limited to: the patient’s full name, residential and postal address, telephone number, Medicare details, Pension and Health care information. We may also request information such as previous and current medical history, List of medication used by the patient, copies of previous reports and referrals. NT Cardiac uses reasonable endeavours to ensure that identifying health information is not disclosed to any anyone. Our Clinicians and specialist who provide services at our practise may refer patients to services such as pathology, radiology, public and private hospitals. The collection and disclosure of patient information may also be used for the purposes of billing and liaising with Government departments such as Medicare.
NTC will ensure the information collected and retained in our patient records is correct and up-to date; and patients can access their information for review. Other than what is stated within this policy we will not sell, distribute or disclose any personal information to any third party.

The NT Cardiac website may contain links to external websites to improve the service we offer and expand upon the information readily available to you. Once a user decides to click on a link and navigate away from the NT Cardiac website the privacy policy noted here is no longer in effect. Users are recommended to familiarise themselves with the privacy policies on these websites once they browse and interact with them.
